Here is the first-ever performance of a Neil classic, released in 1978 on Rust Never Sleeps. On this version, recorded at the legendary Boarding House shows, Neil flubs the lyrics, and starts over again. The song has been played 34 times over the years, the last time being Oct 24, 1978. An Analysis of the Meaning of the song Thrasher Lyrics This is one of a series of articles which provide an explanation of the meaning of Neil Young's song Thrasher. While the interpretation of lyrics presented here is composed of several viewpoints, there is little consensus on the exact meaning of Neil's songs. Here' s one you not only don't see every day but will find difficult to see pictures of or find information about. This is a very "high-end" RCA 45 RPM attachment made for the 1948 Berkshire series of "over the top" special order phonograph/radio/TV console models produced by RCA. They were made (obviously) for those that could afford the very best. The Berkshire consoles started at $1700 in 1948 - some $13000 in today's money. The Berkshire 45 RPM add-on's were produced in 1949 for the Berkshire consoles made in 1948 - the 45 RPM system wasn't introduced until 1949 requiring you to buy this adapter if you wanted to listen to 45's through your VERY expensive console! The best way to get a more complete story is to do a GOOGLE search "RCA Berkshire". Few of these attachments have survived over the 61 year period and any or all found today will require rebuilding in order to work correctly. I found only one (in Mahogany) to have passed hands through the internet in 2007 - I have no idea what ($$) that changed hands for. I paid quite a large sum for mine but I wanted this piece of history in my own collection to be able to be the steward of and to show others this magnificent piece of early 50's history that few will get to see - and in my second video, see in action! I'm pleased to present this video & I hope you enjoy it!
