I drove up to Nashville Tennessee to see this TV I had found on Craigslist. I was very disappointed when I arrived and saw the condition of the cabinet. I almost left without it, but the seller was very negotiable. The seller stated the TV would light up, swore to it. When I got the TV home I rigged up a power cord and powered it up slowly with a variac. The TV lit up about half of the center area of the screen, it had absolutely no audio, there was no sound from the speaker, not even a hum, or crackle. I tore down the set and went to work. I had to replace better than 3/4 of the resistors in this set. I replaced all of the wire wound sand resistors. I replaced all of the electrolytic capacitors, as well as all of the bypass capacitors except for the ceramic disc capacitors. I ended up having to go back in and replace one of the ceramic disc capacitors as it was distorting my audio. I have made a full video series of the trip out to get the TV as well as videos showing some of the steps getting it going, the repairs, and parts replaced. When I get the time to work with the video editing software and figure out how to compile those together I will upload those. This video will show what the TV would do upon arrival. I still have a lot of work to do, I intend to restore the cabinet as well, but I think I will wait until spring, or summer so I can work outside.
