Virgin Lands is proud to be working with Bigpoint on the production of the 2010 E3 show trailer for their space action MMO Battlestar Galactica. The key theme of the 1.5 minute trailer is the battle of man against machine, or human vs. Cylon. Here you can see an excerpt from a battle between the humans' Battlestar Galactica and the Cylons' base ship Basestar. Virgin Lands was able to use the original 3D models from the TV series in the production of this trailer. We produced the trailer in close cooperation with Bigpoint, taking it from storyboard right through to the final compositing.

ARCHETROPE CONTEST - ROUND 1 Your Hand In Mine | Explosions in the Sky Kara Thrace (STARBUCK) | The Chosen One (THE ANTIHERO) First, thank you so much to aPASSINGthought for hosting this contest + letting me go through into round 1, I am so excited for this contest and hope I can stay in for as long as possible. I might put something else together before the deadline but I like this for some reason and will probably keep it as my submission. Why I Chose Kara Thrace: When I was reading the guidelines and description of hero archetypes, "the chosen one" immediately made me think of Kara and "her special destiny". If you have not seen BSG and aren't worried about being spoiled... Kara has a "destiny" to lead the remaining humans (who used to live on another planet that was destroyed by the cylons which look like people now). For most of the series she denies this, but after disappearing into a storm that was supposedly where Earth (which is mythological in bsg, btw) was supposed to be and her ship exploding, she returns two months later in a pristine Viper thinking she had only been gone for a few hours and had found Earth. When they do find "Earth", they discover that it is a wasteland and was destroyed by technology (all this has happened before and all this will happen again) and the land is completely marred. Kara finds her body in her viper with Leoben, a cylon whom she met in season 1 who told her she had a fate, and ...

Several Videos I got from a NASA site. They show the staging of a Saturn IB stage, and the Saturn II stage. The videos were originally recorded at a speed 4 times normal. unknown what that speed was. This is why if you have seen these in movies or tv shows they always run in slow motion. The lower right video has been sped up to normal speed, of note is at the end of each video you will see the moment the camera was jettisoned (I always wondered how they got the film back). Modern rockets use a microwave down link or some kind of solid state storage for video of this kind. The first video was used in the old Battlestar Galactica series, during an episode when the colonists are attacking a Cylon Basestar. The second and third videos are actually from the same Saturn V (Apollo 4) test flight. there were 2 cameras mounted on opposite sides of the fuselage.
