Rain was forecast for the weekend but Practice day was all sun and shine as we flew up above the track thanks to Garden City Helicopters, capturing some stunning video of the cars attacking the infield reverse section at Taupo Raceway. Favored by everyone in pitlane, the Reverse Track configuration produces some of the tightest and closest drifting in the country. This year it played host to Round 3 of the Cody's D1NZ Championship Series where Cole Armstrong in the V Energy R34 Skyline leads the title chase with Mad Mike Whiddett in the Redbull RX7 close behind - a battle of the energy drinks. Fresh with confidence after wining Round 2 at Pukekohe Raceway in November was Curt Whittaker in the 2JZ Powered All Black R34 Skyline, sitting 3rd in the points without any major backing Curt and the Whittaker Motorsport team where out to proove themselves again in the hopes of securing funding for next year. The All-Black Skyline is easily a fan favorite with the Australasian Drift Champ behind the wheel. Qualifying was a mixed bag as the skies opened up raining halfway through the session, Daynom Templeman however was on form laying down consistent lines all day long. With no car issues to contend with the NAC backed Zenith Motorsport team could properly focus on car setup for the weekend and with $250 cash from Wongs ...

The two main factions of "Transformers" in Beast Wars are descendants of the two main factions in the original cartoon: the Maximals are the descendants of the Autobots and the Predacons are the descendants of the Decepticons. The names were intended to stem from the terms Mammal and Predator[citation needed] but were not necessarily consistent with the alternate forms of the Transformers. (In Beast Machines, the process during which Autobots and Decepticons became Maximals and Predacons is referred to as "The Great Upgrade".) The leader of the Predacon team is Megatron. He and his forces are a splinter group on the hunt for powerful crystals known as Energon, (Though in The Agenda (Part 1) it's revealed Megatron got the location of energon as a bonus) to be used in a ploy for power and dominance. They do this with the aid of an artifact known as the Golden Disk and Megatron's stolen ship, the Darksyde, which is equipped with a transwarp drive. A Maximal exploration ship, the Axalon, led by Optimus Primal, is sent to stop them. Together the ships plunge through a time/space phenomenon created by the transwarp device during their battle in space, and crash-land on a mysterious planet. The planet is found to be rich in deposits of raw Energon, to the point that it proves to be poisonous to both factions' robot forms, forcing them to take on alternate organic forms for protection until their robot forms are needed. This extract from the BBC tv series "Coast" is narreted by Neil Oliver and originally broadcast in 2010. Several pirate radio operators throught the era of UK offshore radio (1964-67) eagerly boarded the platforms and set up their tall transmitter masts - the configuration of the forts was ideal for such a construction. In the case of the Red Sands Fort, first it was Radio Invicta, commencing on 29th July 1964, broadcasting from 6am to 6pm on 306m - the transmission times were limited as overnight transmissions would have been swamped out by a foreign radio transmitter using the same frequency. Invicta went off air in February 1965 and the fort was soon taken over by KING Radio, transmitting on 238m. Then on 25th September 1965, Radio 390 took over with a more easy listening kind of programme - light jazz and Mantovani and his Orchestra could regularly be heard all over the south east of England on their 35KW transmitter. All stations were eventually closed in 1967 when the UK Government changed the law with regard to radio broadcasting by introducing the Marine Offences Act, which came into effect at midnight on August 15th 1967. Recently, Red Sands has been under threat of possible demolition, being considered a danger to the nearby shipping lane.
