This new M@inStreet Studios original features the curator of the Cherokee County Historical Museum, David Crum and will air on channel 2 and MainStreeTV.com monthly. In this series, Mr. Crum will detail some of the many interesting historic stories of Cherokee County Alabama, an area that is rich in history. This month's episode explains the history of the train trestle just off AL 273 in Leesburg. The Tennessee Alabama Georgia railway once passed through the area carrying passengers and freight. In 1924, a fatal accident occurred at the site of the trestle. Listen as Dave Crum explains what happens.

With 10 steam locomotives, action to be seen included double-headers, TPO's, freight and of course passenger trains. Locations used in this video include Woodthorpe straight and bridge, the approaches to Loughborough Station, Kinchley Lane, Rothley Station and Leicester North Station. Steam locomotives to be seen included GWR Hall Class No. 4953 'Pitchford Hall', SR King Arthur Class No. 30777 'Sir Lamiel', BR Standard Class 2 No. 78019, LMS 3F 'Jinty' Class No. 47406, N2 Class No. 1744, LMS 8F Class No. 48624, BR Standard Class 7 No. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell', GCR 04 No. 63601and BR Standard Class 2 No. 76521 from the home fleet. Visiting the line from the Swanage Railway was SR M7 No. 53. In order of appearance; we first start at Woodthorpe where we see No. 78019 (leading) and No. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' double-heading a passenger working towards Leicester North, No. 63601 light engine in the same direction follows, No. 4953 'Pitchford Hall' light engine also heading towards Leicester North, No. 63601 with mineral rake heading towards Loughborough, No. 47406 with a passenger train for Leicester North, No. 78019 with the TPO rake towards Loughborough, No 30777 'Sir Lamiel' with a passenger train for Leicester North, No. 4653 'Pitchford Hall' heading light engine back to Loughborough ...
