1. It has a tough, full touchscreen display. The Kindle Fire comes with a touchscreen display that's a big step-up from those found on its siblings. It has IPS (In-Plane Switching), a 7-inch size, 1024 by 600 resolution and can display 16 million colors. And did we say it's also protected with Gorilla-glass? Now you know. 2. Dual-core galore! Another thing that got us giddy with the Kindle Fire is the fact that it has a dual core 1GHz TI OMAP chip that definitely is a huge improvement over the other Kindles. 3. It runs Android apps Yep, it does. In fact, Amazon has its own Android app store which this device can access. The next slide will show the main reason why it has this feature. 4. Is it powered by Google Android? The short answer is, technically yes. However, Amazon seems to have slapped a customized Kindle UI on top of it making it look different from other Androids out there. Also, we're not sure what version it has. Previous reports say it has pre-Froyo platform while newer spills say it's actually Honeycomb. We believe it's the latter. 5. It looks like a BlackBerry PlayBook Previous rumors say it looks like RIM's own 7-incher, and they were spot-on. Not that it looks exactly like the Playbook but at first glance and overall it does. One viable explanation for this, aside from the size, is that Amazon hooked-up with Qanta, the same ODM (original design manufacturer) that designed the tablet from Canada. 6. You've got choices As we've said, the Kindle Fire didn't ...

This is my review on Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder. It is the first book in the Healer (or Avry of Kazan) Series. Here is my Q&A with Maria V. Snyder 1.Who is your favourite character in your books? Janco from my Study and Glass books is my favourite -- no doubt! He's just a fun, quirky character that goes off on unusual tangents and I love writing about him. 2. I loved Inside Out and Outside In! Are you going to balance it out by making a third book in that series? I'm glad you enjoyed the books. Right now there are no plans for a third. However, I've been getting many reader emails asking about a third. Plus my daughter wants another :) So I'm thinking there will be a third at some point, but I don't know when. 3. What gave you the idea for your new Healer Series? In my first fantasy series, the main protagonist, Yelena was able to heal, but it was only one of her many abilities. I wanted to explore this magical power more in depth. So I had this vague idea about a healer or an apprentice healer during an epidemic. She was either going to be sought after for her powers -- like everyone wanting her, or be hunted. I wasn't sure. Then one night my daughter couldn't sleep and she wanted me to tell her a story. She knew all my other books, so I started telling her about this healer. And every night, she'd ask, "What's next?" That's why Touch of Power is dedicated to my daughter. 4. What book(s) are working on at the moment? I'm working on Scent of Magic, the second book ...

Get a free iPad 2 bit.ly Recognizing the start of a new era in music, the surfing craze, Michael Z. Gordon wrote his first hit song, "Surfer's Stomp" almost immediately after he formed his first rock & roll band, The Marketts. Barely able to play the guitar, he taught himself how to play as he toured with his group. After having toured on the road with the Marketts for three years, he wanted to go back into the studio to produce and record more songs. He went back into the studio with his second group, "The Routers" and he recorded another national hit song, "Let's Go!" by The Routers. While on a national tour with the Routers, he sat down and wrote his biggest and most popular smash recording, "Out of Limits", which went to #1 in the nation and earned him his first BMI award for instrumental of the year. Finally deciding to end his touring days, he went back to Hollywood and teamed up with Jimmy Griffin, another up and coming songwriter and the duo wrote over sixty songs which resulted in over one hundred recordings including "Love Machine" and "Apologize" by Ed Aames, which earned him his second BMI award. Gordon then went on to become an award winning film producer in addition to composing music for movies and TV including, "The Outsiders"(1983), _"The Wonder Years" (1988),"Pulp Fiction" (1994), "Ally McBeal" (1997), _"Everybody Loves Raymond (1996) and the Tom Hanks HBO series, _ , "From the Earth to the Moon" (1998).
