MORK & MINDY.l'extraterrestre Mork (Robin Williams) è apparso per la prima volta in un episodio di Happy Days in onda nel febbraio del 1978: in Fantascienza anche per Fonzie la sua missione era quella di rapire Richie Cunningham. Fallita l'operazione -- ma non quella degli ascolti record -- è stato rimandato sulla terra con un telefilm tutto suo per studiare il comportamento degli umani sul finire degli anni '70. Giunto sul nostro pianeta da Ork con la sua astronave a forma di uovo, Mork viene scambiato per pazzo: si veste al contrario, parla in modo strano, si siede a testa in giù, beve dalle dita, saluta con la frase "nanonano", destinata a diventare un "tormentone" tra i ragazzi alla stessa stregua della sigla omonima cantata da Bruno D'Andrea. Tuttavia la sua simpatia e innocenza conquistano la giovane commessa Mindy McConnell (Pam Dawber), che lo accoglie nel suo appartamento al 1619 di Pine Street a Boulder, nel Colorado, salvo poi innamorarsene. Con l'aiuto della coinquilina, Mork s'inserisce nella società, ne studia le "strane" abitudini e le riferisce in ogni episodio al capo Orson, irrispettosamente definito "Laser Matto", il quale lo ammonisce di stare attento a non farsi influenzare dai terrestri. Tra i personaggi ricorrenti, spicca quello di Exidor (Robert Donner), un pazzo che crede che l'invasione dei Venusiani sia ormai prossima e trova in Mork un alleato delle sue elucubrazioni.
