Johnson Claims Emotional Win In Adelaide - Feb 9, 2011 Video by Power Productions Exactly seven years ago Jason Johnson drove with a heavy heart when he won a World Series Sprintcars round at Speedway City in Adelaide just after hearing his sister had been seriously injured in a traffic accident back home in America. Back them he claimed the win before boarding a plane to see his sister who was on life support, but passed away before he got home. Last night the Louisiana leadfoot drove with his heart on his sleeve for an emotional win in round 12 of World Series Sprintcars from Matt Egel and David Murcott. "It's a difficult time, I lost my little sister in a fatality seven years ago," Johnson said. "I couldn't even get home in time, I didn't even get to say goodbye...my sister means a lot to me," he said last night, referring to the events of 2004. "I really do think she looks down on me like an angel...she made tonight possible, she was riding along." Johnson started on pole and opened up a handy buffer before the field regroup with three laps remaining. He said it was hard to block out the emotions and get on with the job to claim the win. "The last three laps was pretty difficult." Johnson said he had a lot of good friends in Australia who had offered him a lot of support. "To think it was seven years ago...it seems like a lifetime."
