MSG's stock shot up when the Knicks, who play at the Garden, went on a winning streak in February led by previously unheralded point guard Jeremy Lin. The winning streak made "Linsanity" a media craze in the US and Asia. But the Knicks now have lost six straight games, putting an Eastern Conference playoff spot in jeopardy and leading to team dissension. MSG was spun off by cable firm Cablevision Systems in February 2010. The Dolan family, founders of cable firm Cablevision (CVC), still control MSG. Its assets include the Knicks, hockey's New York Rangers, a sports arena and two regional TV sports networks. D'Antoni had clashed with team star Carmelo Anthony after the trade brought the All-Star forward to the Knicks a year ago, and he could never get Anthony to buy into his system, according to a Yahoo Sports report, which first reported the resignation.
