Pedro Pietri and El Extreme "Cocktales" It's a bitterseet memory that the last person Pedro wrote a lead role for in his series of plays was for me in "Cocktales". I knew Pedro since 1977 and was in awe of him, though fame was not his priority. It was all about the work and the movement to advance Puerto Ricans in this country. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him. An original copy of his Spanish National Anthem is on my alter to artists at home. El Reverendo presides over a vast array of musicians and creative types I have mementos from on that altar. This is a brief excerpt from the play courtesy of NY Profiles followed by an interview with his friend Jesus Papoleto Melendez about Pedro's final days. You can link to my perrformance of Puerto Rican Obituary at blip.tv Pedro Pietri (March 21, 1944 -- March 3, 2004), was a Nuyorican poet and playwright who co-founded the Nuyorican Poets Café. He was the poet laureate of the Nuyorican Movement. Pietri was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, however his family moved to New York City in 1947, when he was only three years old. They settled down in the Spanish Harlem section of Manhattan where he and his siblings received their primary and secondary education. Pedro was greatly influenced by his aunt, who often recited poetry and on occasions put on theatrical plays in the local church. Pietri himself started to write poems as a student at Haaren High School.[1] After graduating from high school, Pietri worked in a ...

Here is a little inspirational video we put together here at Rocketspots.tv (www.RocketSpots.tv ) to celebrate Christopher Allan Smith's winning of an Emmy award in 2011. He was lucky enough to do it with his friend, cousin and longtime collaborator Ryan Neisz. Ryan is the owner of a southern California video company, Clear Creative Media (http ). The upshot: You can dream of great things, and that's all well and good, but working long and hard to achieve your goals is what success demands. Background: Last year, we did an educational video for Castro Valley High School to keep high schoolers from drinking and driving. It's part of a national program called Every 15 Minutes ( Every15Minutes.com ) and part of the program is to produce a video for each high school. It's since become the most-viewed Every 15 Minutes video of all time. You can see it here, and we're very proud of it: vimeo.com/11222689 Earlier this year, we did another one we like very much for San Leandro High School. That's uploaded here: youtube.com/watch?v=aa92QyfauvY A great description of the basics of the Every 15 Minutes program we found on another YouTube upload: Every 15 Minutes is a program designed to educate high school students on the effects and consequences of drinking and driving. EFM in California is usually by way of a Grant from the California Highway Patrol Office of Traffic Safety. EFM is typically a two day event for the students and is usually conducted every other year. Day one is ...

English Mode: Make Pink Not War: Pink Panther finds himself between two feuding neighbors and can get no peace outside his house and eventually inside, when they break inside to continue their battle. Pinky eventually finds the cause of their dispute when he learns one neighbor doesn't have a beard, and the other doesn't have a moustache. Pink Panther's solution is to shave them both, and the two eventually make peace as they admire each other's clean faces. However, Ant is able to turn the tables on him by switching cards to get the higher ones, making the Aardvark run the dreaded errand of getting him honey from the Hill of Doom with the obvious dangers involved. After one final draw, Aardvark loses again and must get the Ant berries from the Tree of Misery with even more treacherous hazards in his path.
