Duration 26 mins Featuring: Mexican Pets, Jubilee All Stars, Ian Mackaye, Andy Cairns, Wormhole, Cruiser, Female Hercules, Tension, Pet Lamb, Luggage and SunBear. In 2000 Leagues, then presenter/producer of essential alternative music show NoDisco (RTE TV Cork)and the author of the fantastic The Humours of Planxty, wrote a companion piece to the VHS release of Stars.... on Folkrum Records. It is printed in full below. .................................. "In 1996, filmaker Daragh McCarthy directed a documentary inspired by the noises emanating from Dublin's independent rock scene. At the time, we didn't know if this urgent groundswell in activity was destined to be just an ephemeral phenomenon or whether it was the foundation for a future infrastructure. All we knew was that it was some of the best and most pro-active music making in a country other wise smothered by corporate bandwagoneering and post-U2 tail-chasing. The Stars Are Underground was, quite simply a film crying out to be made. In retrospect, it has become a prescient foretaste of the depth of fine music being made in Ireland, four years later. Stars... is a film about dreamers, visionaries, wannabe Warhols and shoe-string svengalis. A film about punk-rock, country outlaws, decadent discordance and slack jaw stoners. It's about people ...

Following the intensity of last week's big kiss between Elena and Damon, most viewers were expecting a somewhat tame episode of the CW hit show. But, boy oh boy, were we all proven wrong. The episode kicked off with a nearly nude scene featuring Damon lathering up in the shower and Elena getting her aggression out with an intense kick boxing session. While the Damon scene was a fun little treat to say the least, the biggest shocker was by far, the new brewing romance between Klaus and Caroline. This episode featured Caroline's 18th birthday celebration, which was a bit of a toughie for her, based on the fact that, as she notes, she's technically dead. Caroline is also clearly still distraught over her break-up with Tyler and at the start of the show, we see them share a moment and he gives her a sweet little charm bracelet. Tyler, who is not invited to Caroline's small birthday gathering, still shows up to tell Caroline that he loves her. But right after he does that -- he bites her, which is something that Klaus compelled him to do. FYI guys -- just a reminder --a hybrid bite kills a vampire. Matt rushes a dying Caroline back to her house, and guess who shows up? None other than Klaus himself. This scene was a mixture of highly creepy and kinda sweet -- very strange overall. Klaus gives ...
