As most of you have probably heard, especially all of you movie buffs out there, the 2012 Academy Award nominations are out. And just as the lists got revealed to the public, it had a lot of people talking about snubs. Of course, this happens every single year to some extent and this particular Oscar nod announcement has Harry Potter fans going nuts. Of course, we cannot forget that the final film, the Deathly Hallows Part 2, did earn 3 nominations, in categories including Art Direction, Makeup and Visual Effects -- so congratulations for that! But the super surprising exclusion is from the Best Picture category. Keep in mind that the Academy can nominate a maximum of 10 films and for this 2012 round, it only included 9 movies... leaving one spot for HP, right? Well, some people are saying that even though there was a push to be considered for the major movie award show that the Deathly Hallows Part 2 really only had such box office success because of its majorly loyal fanbase. Some critics are also saying that even though it did do relatively good in theatres, as far as comparison to the rest of the nominations in the Best Picture category go, the final Harry Potter film just didn't measure up. VH1 producer Anthony Beltempo proposed the idea of a show focusing on the "guido" lifestyle for TV, in the form of a competition series. Turkey furiously denounced the move by France's senate of passing a bill outlawing the denial of the Armenian genocide in 1915, with Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin saying it was "a great injustice and shows a total lack of respect for Turkey." "We strongly condemn this decision which is... an example of irresponsibility," the Turkish foreign ministry said in a written statement, adding that the government would not hesitate to swiftly implement retaliatory measures.
