Welcome to the first video tour of our two part series dedicated to the Flatiron District, located in Manhattan, New York, by New York Habitat (www.nyhabitat.com). This skyscraper was one of the tallest buildings in the city when it was completed in 1902. New Yorkers began referring to it as the "Flatiron" due to the triangular block it sits on, looking very much like an old fashioned flat iron. The Flatiron District is roughly bounded by 20th Street to the south, Sixth Avenue to the west, 26th Street to the north, and Lexington Avenue to the east. The Flatiron District developed around a stretch of high end retailers along Fifth Avenue that drew in the most fashionable women of the late 1890s. Earlier it was known as "Ladies Mile" and later on "The Toy District" because of the Toy Center Building located at 23rd Street and Broadway. Today the 'Ladies Mile' may not have the glamour and glitz that it had in the past, but it has regained its retail shopping identity and is now a New York City Historic District. Here's a performance at the 2006 NAMMY Awards in Seminole Florida inside the Hard Rock Cafe. Also, you'll find photos of the show and the award acceptance speech. I wasn't expecting the award at all and was goofing around with my band and other musicians backstage for most of the show. I just came out to see what the show looked like from the front of the stage and sit with my wife who was watching the whole show when they called my name to for Male Artist of the Year. So I grabbed her hand and took her up to the stage with me. My band & I played 2 songs during the show but only one made it to the video broadcast. The one featured here is called, A Guitar Chants For the People. The one that didn't make the cut was "Commodity Cheese Blues", www.youtube.com which featured the music video lip synching to us (Jeno the drummer had a click for synch). It worked briefly during the show's dress rehearsal but not during performance. During performance the click track was started late, missing a beat or two so Jeno, realizing this, ended up whipping his headphones off without dropping a beat and synching from some vague visual cues to the video screen behind him. This worked for a little while until the production crews video went down for the rest of the show. That would have been fun to watch if it would have been caught on tape but must have ended up on the cutting room floor! There is a podcast out there of the full show. Musicians are Jeno Somlai - drums, Bryan Mir - bass ...

---------------------------------------------------- The Mario Kart Wii Woohoo! Show | ---------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Turn on annotations! In this two-part episode watch me as I race and get owned (mainly this part) by poor handling due to audio lag, resulting in losing points! \._./ I have tried a new recording technique. Timewarner Cable, unfortunately, has the AUX IN on my DVR disabled, so I sadly kissed that idea goodbye :( But I thought, I can't have direct video of the races... but I can certainly have direct audio! So I put the camera directly in front of the TV (cleverly utilizing my small Ibanez amplifier, capo, a tissue box, a sharpie and a napkin) and ran the audio from the Wii to my stereo and out to the computer via headphone jack and guitar cord. This is the first time using this method so the audio isn't exactly matched up perfect, but it's great compared to the first episode when you could barely hear it. I also hated how you could hear me clicking the goddamn "B" button. But as for how it is to race... bah. I had to sit to the side of the TV to see the entire screen, which is awkward anyway, but the audio is off slightly ("thanks" goes to the HD TV) so it makes it incredibly hard to control the game :( So yeah, it's no surprise I get my ass kicked!
