By Tom Watkins - Tell Us USA News Network DETROIT (Tell Us USA) - The city of Detroit, the state of Michigan and America itself lost a man who stood tall for all things right and just with the passing of Sam Logan, the longtime publisher of Michigan's largest weekly black newspaper, the Michigan Chronicle. Logan was a fierce fighter for what is good and right. His vision, spirit and integrity transcended geography, politics, gender or race. Logan was an accomplished journalist and business leader who nurtured the young and gave hell to politicians and business leaders who deserved it. Originally from Louisiana, Logan was a graduate of the Detroit Public Schools' High School of Commerce, a paratrooper in the Army and attended the University of Detroit's College of Business Administration. He held executive positions at SLC Advertising and radio stations WCHB-AM (1200)/WCHD-FM (105.9) before joining the Michigan Chronicle as an assistant advertising manager. He was publisher when his death was announced Wednesday. Logan was able to bring our diverse community together to help shape a shared vision and common agenda for the public good. Observing Sam navigate sensitive political, educational and social issues, it's not difficult to imagine him as a young Army paratrooper boldly leaping out of planes to protect our freedom and liberty. "Shake Ya Ass", also known by its clean title, "Shake It Fast", is the second single released from Mystikal's fourth album, Let's Get Ready. It also featured Pharrell. It was released on July 18, 2000 and was produced by The Neptunes. The single was a huge success for Mystikal, peaking at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, number three on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and number seven on the Hot Rap Singles. Both the song and music video (directed by Little X) received heavy airplay and it has arguably become Mystikal's most well-known song. "Shake Ya Ass" was followed by another top 20 hit, "Danger (Been So Long)". There were two edited versions of the song, allowing radio stations to choose between the two choruses but both versions had amended lyrics. Only the edited version of "Shake Ya Ass" was never released as opposed to "Shake It Fast" on the album's edited version. Since its release, the song has been featured in numerous films and other media. It has been featured in the films Kiss of the Dragon, Crossroads, Juwanna Mann, Scary Movie 2 and About A Boy and the HBO television series Treme, also appearing in TV series "Everybody Hates Chris" episode Everybody Hates Drew. It also appeared in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV when the player enters the numerous strip clubs around the city, Also featured on Need For Speed: Underground as the soundtrack. The song was listed as the 303rd best song of the 2000s by Pitchfork Media.
