They were the TV shows Australia loved. Countdown, Bellbird, Number 96, The Graham Kennedy Show, among many, many others. But due to budget constraints and a lack of foresight, thousands of episodes of these series were destroyed; their tapes wiped. Many Australians would be horrified to learn that thousands of episodes of their favourite series do not exist in the archives. But they may also be surprised to learn these same lost programs may exist in the unlikeliest of places; their own homes. This is the story of Australia's lost cultural history. A new documentary on a dark period when Australian television networks thought the value of the videotape was more than what was recorded on it. This is not a documentary about blame, nor is it a witch hunt. This is a story about hope. Hope that the entirety of Bon Scott and AC/DC's first performance on Australian TV will be found one day, instead of the agonizingly short two second clip that only exists of it. Or the lost episodes of Number 96. Or the footage of Mary Hardy becoming the first person on Australian TV to say fuck. Maybe someone taped it. Or saved some reels from the tip. It might be sitting in a garage. Or in a shed. Or under the stairs... These broadcasts are important. They have worth. They are ours. Lets get them back. Currently in production. This project is in honor of all those who have passed on February 26th, 1993 and September 11th, 2001. The World Trade Center: Historical Archive is a series of video montages that will show the history of the World Trade Center site, from the 1968 construction of the original Trade Center to the completion of the new Trade Center in 2015. This project is strictly non-profit and is for viewing only. This project has no political subtext what-so-ever. It will simply exist as an archive for future generations to view who are interested in learning about the World Trade Center in a historical context. Artist: Ronan Hardiman. Song: Gypsy. Album: Michael Flatley's lord of the dance. Ronan Hardiman is one of Ireland's premier composers of traditional music, responsible for the score to Lord of the Dance as well as many Irish films and television series. Born in Dublin to a father highly placed in Irish broadcasting, Hardiman listened to rock & roll and pop as a child (while his siblings preferred traditional Irish music). He worked as a clerk at the Bank of Ireland for twelve years, and occasionally playing in pop bands during the 1980s. After quitting his job, though, he composed material based more on Irish traditions than pop music, specifically for radio and television; months later wrote the theme music to the documentary My Riviera, which became quite well-known in Ireland. During the next few years, Hardiman composed for Coca-Cola and Guinness and gained his reputation as Ireland's best contemporary composer. He was approached by Michael Flatley, creator of Riverdance, to compose the score to the new production Lord of the Dance. Thanks in large part to the success of the production, Hardiman gained a recording contract through Philips and released his debut album, Solas, in early 1998. (John Bush, All Music Guide). On the 4th August 2011 at approximately at 6pm, an incident occurred in which a young man, a father of four was gunned down by police officers. His name was Mark Duggan, 29. Much was made of this incident, it was alleged that the victim had fired at police initially, a claim that proved to be untrue. The police and IPCC's investigation and overall handling of the case can be questioned in a variety of ways. The family of Mr Duggan where treated with a lack of compassion. What followed the death of Mr Duggan was widespread riots across the UK, this enabled the media to focus away from the real issue at hand and turn their attention to the riots. This documentary will focus solely on Mr Duggan and the suspicious events surrounding his death. In part 1 of this series we will look at the media and their handling of the case, including many interviews that they would dare not show again on TV as the true voice of the people is being spoken. This documentary features initial news reports of the incident through to the funeral of Mr Duggan. Nearly six months after the death of Mr Duggan there are many questions that remain unanswered.
