Revelatory rods Besides dowsing, divining rods were also used as revelatory devices. Sometimes a rod would be held up in the air, and the rodman would ask a question. If the rod moved, the answer was "yes". If it did not move, the answer was "no". The source for this was believed to be either magical spirits or God; sometimes these types of rods were referred to as a "Mosaic rod" or "rod of Aaron", referencing the Old Testament prophet Moses and his brother Aaron, who both used rods (presumably straight ones).

Visit the Pigasus Award page www.randi.org Good evening! Tonight, we are pleased to present this year's Pigasus Awards to the following very-deserving people. It was a hard call — there seem to be millions all over the world clambering to make it onto the following shortlist — but these folks had that special something that commanded our attention and, in the end, impressed us like no others. No matter if it was blatant cynicism, shocking callousness, lazy ignorance, or merely old-fashioned pig-headedness — these men and women took those qualities that most vex us to their wild, crazy extremes. We'd salute them, but we're too busy gaping. For the scientist who did the most to promote woo in 09 Dr. Mehmet Oz is a Harvard-educated cardiac physician whose current TV show, while providing some basic wisdom re medical matters, also promotes and endorses such quackery as Reiki of which Ozs wife is a practitioner along with all sorts of energy medicine and other magic. Oprah Winfrey, following his appearance on her TV show, set him up with a show of his own, which has heavy ratings and brings him book sales and the other fruits of success. Proper scientific studies have found that Reiki offers no therapeutic effects, nor is it beneficial for any condition, though it does fatten the wallets of the practitioners. For the funding organization that wasted the most money on pseudo-science Iraq's Interior Ministry had, by the end of 2009, spent USD $85000000 on a dowsing rod called ...

Britain has imposed TOKEN ban the export of a hand-held device, ADE651, sold as a bomb-detection device in Iraq and Afghanistan but not many other countries around the world, including India, Pakistan, Thailand and the Middle East. This would help protect export revenue generated by such worthless devices, and avoid the risk of countries demanding full refund with tangible compensations for thousands of lifes lost and the injured. The device, made by ATSC, and costing up to $60000 each, has been declared useless. Tests proved the ADE651 device card contained only a tag used by shops to prevent theft or shoplifting. The tags cost around five cents ($0.05). Such "smart" devices cost less than $1.00 to make. The devices dont detect explosives. There is nothing to program in these cards. There is no memory. There is no microcontroller. Oh, the smell of easy money! ATSC owner, Jim McCormick, 53, is helping British police probe into allegations of criminal deception or fraud. McCormick was arrested on Friday 22 January 2010 on suspicion of fraud by misrepresentation, and bailed pending further inquiries. McCormick has claimed the pistol-shaped hand-held device detects explosives, stops suicide bombers and cars passing through checkpoints. There is nothing magical, scientific or technological about the magic wand that is used at thousands of checkpoints in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other parts of the world. Such useless devices often show false-negative and false-positive ...
