Japan Certificate: Not Rated 5 out of 10 My thoughts: You never know what life's going to throw at you. Today for example, I got talked into going to see a rugby match in March, the day after my birthday and the day after I've been to a gig; (the New Town Kings, amazing ska band). I have zero interest in rugby. In fact, I've less than no interested in it, I've actually got anti-interest in it. The idea of paying £20 and then sitting in a cold, half empty football stadium, watching a load of blokes carrying a stupidly shaped ball around for 80 minutes, fills me with the sort of dread normally reserved for exams, opening my bank statement and getting a bollocking at work for not doing something I should have done. Anyway, here's a mental challenge for you. Please first think of the Power Rangers in a typical episode. Okay, hold that ...

Jim Davis starred as "railroad detective" Matt Clark in this 30-minute 1954 western series. Matt Clark's partner was a sexy, feisty, competitive young woman played by Mary Castle. Matt Clark eventually got a new partner played by Kristine Miller. A female lead in an action show was never done, and it was intriguing and fun. Its surprising no show followed this innovative precedent of a male and female duo as leads. Each episode of "Stories of the Century" focused on a different real life western desperado. This program was one of the first syndicated shows to win a major Emmy award. It was named the best western or adventure series of 1954. The Roy Rogers Show was an American Western television series that broadcast 100 episodes on NBC for six seasons between December 30th, 1951 and June 9th, 1957. The show starred Roy Rogers as a ranch owner, Dale Evans as the proprietor of the Eureka Cafe in fictional Mineral City and Pat Brady as Roy's sidekick and Dale's cook. Brady's jeep Nellybelle had a mind of her own and often sped away driverless with Brady in frantic pursuit on foot. Animal stars were Roy's Palomino Trigger and his German Shepherd, Bullet, the Wonder Dog. The series featured traditional cowboys and cowgirls but worked contemporary touches such as automobiles, telephone, and electric lighting into the mix. Typical episodes followed the stars as they rescued the weak and helpless from the clutches of dishonest lawmen, claim jumpers, rustlers and other "bad guys." This was exactly like the plots Roy and Dale had used in their motion pictures. Roy Rogers, born, Leonard Franklin Slye, November 5, 1911, passed away, July 6, 1998 (age 86) Dale Evans, born, Frances Octavia Smith, October 31, 1912, passed away, February 7, 2001 (age 88) Tonight's Story "Phantom Rustlers" An epidemic of cattle rustling is hitting the small ranchers and farmers in the valley, and the cattle seem to just vanish into thin air. Cast Roy Rogers ... Roy Rogers Dale Evans ... Dale Evans Pat Brady ... Pat Brady Minerva Urecal ... Mrs. MacGuiness Francis McDonald ... Sam MacGuiness Robert Hyatt ...
