"Right now the US visa immigration system does not allow for entrepreneurs [from overseas] to come here and test out their ideas and create the new jobs and create the new companies of tomorrow," says Blueseed co-founder Max Marty, "its system was designed for a bygone era." Marty believes that his seasteading venture Blueseed "is the solution to a problem" created by the archaic US visa system, which he and co-founder Dario Mutabdizja say is starving Silicon Valley of the best and brightest international entrepreneurs. As a "visa-free technology incubator for startups" situated on a ship 12 miles off the coast of Silicon Valley, Blueseed aims to be the "Googleplex of the Sea," a vibrant workplace for innovative industries to bloom, unencumbered by onerous regulations on new technology-sector businesses. The project has attracted investors such as Paypal co-founder, venture capitalist and noted libertarian Peter Thiel (who once made an early investment in a little startup company called Facebook). In an interview with Bloomberg, Vizio CEO Matt McRae didn't name a number, but he hinted at it... "The Windows-based machines will go on sale by June at 'a price that just doesn't seem possible.'" According to an IGN reporter, what's under the hood of these machines remains mostly a mystery. But this much they know -- Vizio will unveil two desktop all-in-ones and three notebooks at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which kicks off Monday. PCWorld reports Vizio is well-positioned for this jump into a new market. The writer says... "...the flat-panel TV maker known for its sleek designs, could shake up the PC market because it gets screens for a bargain and that would allow it to undercut its competitors' prices." Vizio's CEO told USA Today -- believe it or not -- his company has employed this strategy before. REPORTER "I'm sure that when this idea came up, a lot of people at the company said, 'you're nuts, you're crazy.'" CEO, MATT MCRAE: "Vizio's been called crazy since we launched the company almost 10 years ago. So, if you look back in our history, we attacked a market that was very mature, had very large companies in it." The Korean Broadcasting System recently aired a new documentary called "The return of the pipistrelle," part of "The age of the Documentary" weekly series. They chose the topic because bats represented luck and were a good symbol in the past. However, due to TV shows and movies, bats are not represented as a good symbol anymore in Korea. This documentary sets out to change that perspective. Footage includes an interview with Bat Zone Director Rob Mies, live bats, and Cranbrook grounds.
