The ballad is an Israeli song called "Shirim Ad Kan", which Oran heard from his father often as a child. In introducing the song at the concert, Oran reflected on how his father's love for beautiful melodies shaped him as a musician growing up. Oran Ektin has been described as a "great clarinet player" and "an excellent improviser" by the New York Times music critic Ben Ratliff and a "woodwind maestro" by PRI's internationally syndicated show, Afropop Worldwide.
