The International Academy of Web Television (IAWTV) held its inaugural IAWTV Awards at the 2012 International CES on the evening of January 12, 2012 at The Venetian in Las Vegas. The first IAWTV Award went to DadLabs for the Best Educational Web Series. Best known for shaping and promoting the evolving Web television industry, the IAWTV Awards are the first awards show that is by content producers for content producers within the industry. The Awards serve as an annual event that allows its members to pay tribute to the best of their profession, while networking among industry luminaries and supporting the Academy. From studio executives to YouTube celebrities and independent content creators, members will honor those that are successfully creating entertainment for digital platforms. The winners for the IAWTV Awards were chosen by majority vote of the active voting membership of the IAWTV from nominees who topped more than 350 officially submitted web series. The winners were presented with awards celebrating their outstanding achievements across 32 different categories. "The inaugural IAWTV Awards winners represent the best of what is possible in Web television," said Paul Kontonis, Chairman of the Board of Directors for IAWTV, and Vice President/Group Director of Brand Content at Digitas.
