I started this project with the intention of it just being a modeling project but I realized I could animate parts of it like in the movie. This was my first project using Maya's fluid container particles so it was a good learning experience. The project features Fate Testarossa's magic device as seen in the anime. This version is the movie version with the rounded blade as opposed to the jagged version seen in the TV series. Audio credits available at the end of the video. Modeling took less than a day. The particles took three days. The rest were all animating, cameras and adjusting the glow of some of the pieces. Modeled and animated in Autodesk Maya 2012 and rendered in Mental Ray.

Doug Merritt "Shadows of Abigail" Effects Reel "Shadows of Abigail ," which I worked on as part of a team at Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy (FIEA), was a platformer game requring a large number of assets in the Gamebryo engine. efficiency was required for all effects. Particles and lighting needed to be limited as much as possible to sustain an acceptable frame rate. The following is a series of effects contributions I made to the game to achieve the important goal of an immersive environment as efficiently as possible. Haunted House Storm Cloud Effect Developed a swirling storm cloud with rotating alpha planes. Lightning was done with alpha planes by keyframing the visibility attribute. Animated Incandescence maps used for house windows. Ferris Wheel Effect Animated the Ferris Wheel and cars using set-driven-keys. Lights achieved with animated incandescence maps. Spinning Wheel Platforms This technique was leveraged elsewhere with collision. Fireplace Lighting Effect Utilized Mental Ray light and color bake and animated textures to create the illusion of complex lighting and shadows in-game. Chandelier lighting Effect Same method utilized elsewhere in the level. Dense Forest Effect The game faced an issue with Level of Detail (LOD) functionaility. Developed single polygon and 2D Low- poly trees and placed them in the mid and background, creating the illusion of a dense forest, dramatically reducing the poly expense. Lantern Lighting Effect Developed three ...

goodnews.ws www.studiocreativity.com blogone.eu Tractor beams -- the ability to trap and move objects using laser light -- are the stuff of science fiction, but a team of NASA scientists has won funding to study the concept for remotely capturing planetary or atmospheric particles and delivering them to a robotic rover or orbiting spacecraft for analysis. This animation shows how a hypothetical future mission might eventually employ tractor beam technology. Making 'Tractor Beams' a Reality WWW.GOODNEWS.WS goodnews.ws
