"Eat shit, you old fart!" blip.tv Merry Capitalism, Happy Hypocrisy, and other jolly fucking bullshit! :P Father Lava is bringing you an early present (as promised), and what do you know...it's quite a treat for the senses. You may also notice the subtle tang of satire and cynicism in portions of the video as well. XD In this holiday-themed episode, I review Tokyo Godfathers, one of my all-time favorite movies, and made by one of my favorite anime creators...the late Satoshi Kon. On one hand, I feel sad that the man is gone, but on the other hand, his memory (not to mention his masterful command of satire, social commentary, and a balanced blend of reality and fantasy) will live on as an immortal powerhouse. Granted, there's not much to say about Tokyo Godfathers; I mean, sure, I provide claims and evidence for said claims...but honestly, this is me running on auxiliary supply. When you're the kind of person who bangs out three 14-minute reviews in a row, yeah...it tends to guzzle quite a bit of energy (just as much as a Hummer, or even a Hybrid). So I hope you understand. Lava Buster is a series of anime (and non-anime) reviews which contain brutal, honest, and hardcore commentary; these reviews are created for INSIGHT and ENTERTAINMENT purposes, and therefore, are NOT meant for monetary gain. All footage, including live/anime/creative media clips, adhere to Fair Use; comments, and constructive criticism, are welcome and appreciated. In addition, there will be slight ...

"They say there ain't no rainbows around lava..." blip.tv *VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS POTENTIAL SERIES OF WATCH-THROUGH VIDEOS IS NOT MEANT TO BASH, OR OFFEND PEOPLE WHO ARE FANS OF SAID SHOW! THIS IS ALL JUST FOR LOLZ; I DO NOT DEMONIZE PEOPLE FOR LIKING SOMETHING I DON'T (AND VICE VERSA)* Welcome to my second attempt at a VS. watch-through, and today's target: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Ugh, as they say in the Watchmen live-action movie trailer: "God help us all." Yeah, for those who aren't familiar with me, or how I feel about god-tier cuteness...don't worry, by Part 1's end, you'll know DAMN WELL what I think! For a first impression, MLP: FiM does a piss-poor job of getting me interested in the series (not that a cuddly, vibrant waste of my fuck would interest me anyway, but that's not the point); there is so much damn pandering, although to its credit, at least there's SOME semblance of a plot (which is more than I can say for Lucky Star). Oh, one more thing: you'll notice the video has been improved in quality! I'm able to put actual videos AND IMAGES (you know, shrink them down) within said video...yeah, yeah, I know I'm an amateur, but it feels so good to know I can do this! :D I'd like to personally thank B the Trivial Critic for sending me a tutorial on how to execute it; very, very helpful! I appreciate it, man! Hope I did well with this; I'll try to get Part 2 uploaded maybe later this week, possibly sometime next time. We'll see. In the meantime ...

In this episode of The Sludge I sat down and had a chat with Anime reviewer TheLavaBuster. He talks about his start, his web series, as well as his troubles with youtube and being falsely flagged. We also talk about anime series we watched while growing up along with one's we've seen today. Some being good some being absolute shit. Sorry if I seem a little nervous in the beginning, I was just really excited for this one so I apologize for stumbling on my words occasionally. I had a blast though! Thanks Lava for coming onto the show. "Glasses make you a different person? How retarded!" blip.tv About fucking time I upload another review, right? Yes, because who doesn't love to experience another close-to-15-minute barrage of overkill on a 13-episode series (Hellsing being the first). :P Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving in advance! And what better way to start your turkey-munching, stuffing-glossed greatness with me dissecting a lesser-known 13-episode animated series called Cybersix. This review was requested by one YT user: SnowLadyForever (www.youtube.com I was gonna review School Rumble (because two people requested it), but since it's over 52 episodes (26 episodes apiece), it is not qualified for me to grant said review; after all, one of my rules was a series WITH A MAXIMUM OF 26 EPISODES...since School Rumble is 52 episodes total between the two seasons, it doesn't count. Next time I do requests, please pay closer attention to the rules. And to compensate, any installments I don't review in this cycle, I'll note them on my overall hitlist, and will take them on in the future (I'll also make sure to give credit to the person(s) who requested said installment). Anyway, onto Cybersix: one thing I wanted to include in my review (but couldn't fit in) was a quick rant about superhero-related characters (ie henshin/magical girl-type characters) and how people are not able to recognize said characters. For example, Cybersix's alter-ego, Adrian Seidelman, has the weird-ass hairstyle, the lanky (albeit, feminine ...

Tags: lava buster ninja scroll anime movie review
"Ninja...VANISH!" blip.tv *Originally uploaded on 2-27-11* Ninja Scroll is often considered a classic in the realm of anime. Honestly, it's a good film, but full of flaws; even though it has violent, intense, and kick-ass fight scenes, not to mention unique character designs, the story is predictable and cliche-ridden, the dialogue is crappily written/handled, the character development is null and void (to some extent), and I am repulsed by its sexist/misogynistic aura. Is it perfect? Perfection doesn't exist; it's also a dangerous, worthless human-made ideal which doesn't lead to any real progress. Better question: does it have flaws? See above paragraph. Do the flaws prevent from any sort of enjoyment? Hell no. You're saying it's good then? Absolutely! Is it worth seeing more than once? Personally, no, I don't think so (just to say to your friends that you saw the Ninja Scroll movie is sufficient). Ninja Scroll, along with Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence and Canaan, are the only creative installments I've reviewed that I've thoroughly enjoyed (despite their respective flaws; Halo Legends is mediocre, though mildly enjoyable nonetheless). And yes, I have seen the 13-episode Ninja Scroll series; I thought it was okay...not great, but not terrible, either. As for Ninja Resurrection, I haven't seen it, so I can't formulate a valid opinion on the matter. This movie is like receiving a shower of swords to your gonads at triple-digit mileage; I mean, it's that unreal! Ninja ...

Tags: lava buster halo legends anime anthology review
"Teabagging has become a national pastime." blip.tv *Originally uploaded on 2-23-11* My first time reviewing an anime anthology (seven short films). This was the most difficult video to date; not because of technical issues, but because of balancing the time for reviewing each film (in other words, giving them almost the same amount of time or what not). But whatever, it's done. I think I did alright with this; I'm sure you viewers may think differently. I don't own an Xbox 360, nor am I a Halo player. This is strictly from an outsider's perspective. Just because I don't own a 360 does not mean I'm a Sony/Nintendo fanboy (I own a PS3 and Wii, but I don't play them often; I mostly play old-school videogames on my computer...in other words, ROMs and emulators). By the way, this is my second videogame-related review in a row (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children being the previous review), and Halo Legends is far from being l337. The cynicism wasn't quite so high with Halo Legends; this little compilation wasn't too bad (I mean, it's nowhere near excellent or worth seeing a second time). Like most anthologies, it's always a "mixed bag" because different studios create different installments, so the results always feel uneven. It's sort of like a true statement. My personal order of installments I liked/disliked in Halo Legends comprises of the following (first = godly, middle = meh, last = shit): Homecoming - Odd One Out - The Babysitter - Prototype - The Package - The Duel ...
