Elsa would tell Young JV that his is the responsibility to share his blessings with the less fortunate.And so it is that last Dec. 18 at the AFP Recreational Center, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, the singer-dancer turned TV personality organized the first Young JV Basketball Tournament that dramatized his self-imposed mission: to inspire other young people. He also gave gifts to orphans of slain soldiers. The star of "Budoy" even brought along his friend, Gerald Anderson, who plays the title role in the ABS-CBN series (their team, called Lahing Bayani Celebrity won against the AFP squad)."This project is on its second year," explains Young JV shortly before the game started. "Last year, it was only a small event. Hindi masyadong exposed sa tao. Ngayon may different guests na (like Gerald). Pinapunta ko rin si Joe Vargas (of "Pinoy Big Brother"). Dapat nandito si Xian (Lim) pero may taping siya."The game was strictly for fun and all Young JV wanted was to "let the kids watch it." So he invited friends to come over and play.Young JV himself is no stranger to basketball, having been a member of the varsity team in high school.
