This is a summary of what has happened in City of Salvation thus far:Cale is "God" and Dimitri is the "Devil". They were quite good friends until Cale's brother Adam fell in love with Dimitri. This caused great tension in the family and finally Adam had enough. He begged Dimitri to turn him into a demon. At first, Dimitri was reluctant, but Adam convinced him otherwise. Ruby, the Head Demon, and Castiel, the Head Angel, were very discouraged by all of this and knew it would cause problems. Oh it did. In his rage, Cale murdered Anastasia (who was a sister to Lord Dimitri). Out of hurt and fury, Dimitri killed Chihiro's older brother Haku (which was devastating to Lord Cale because he'd promised Chihiro that Haku would go to Heaven and be forgiven for the car accident that killed her - yet these plans were foiled when Dimitri killed him the way he did). Finally, Cale was able to get the rings of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and sealed Lucifer in his cage in Hell.War. Cale gathered Angels from everywhere. Unable to do it himself, Adam recruited Demons for Dimitri. Once done, they were put into the City and split apart at first while Thara (the neutral doll made by Dimitri and Cale before the war) was in her mansion just outside of it.Impatiently, Adam began training Demons quickly so they could save Dimitri; however, Purgatory was opened and the humans (vessels for the Angels and Demons) were split apart from their supernatural owners and placed in Hattusa where they met Lord Cale's repeated soul (Cale's original form before becoming God back in 1400 BC) Kail as well as Yuri.From there, they were rescued by the Triplets of Purgatory: Tobias, Marina, and Proteus. Meanwhile, Angels fought the 7 Deadly Sins back in the City. Soon, all the Demons were taken back and on the night of Dia De Los Muertos, they were brought to the Gates of Hell to save Lord Dimitri. There, their destinies were sewn into their flesh and continued on through the 7 Circles of Hell to rescue the Devil.After his return, Cale tried to make amends with no luck and Dimitri refused to let the war end. Seeing how brave the Demon Olivia was during the rescue, Dimitri quickly fell in love with her. Castiel was then crushed when Thara didn't return his feelings, yet for Klaus instead. Ruby tried her best to stay neutral, but was devastated when Dimitri replaced her as Head Demon with Olivia. Once Adam found out about the affair, he kidnapped Thara and sent her to Purgatory with him.From there, there was not a soul that didn't want Thara back. Adam was hurt beyond belief, but Castiel communicated with him through a Magic Mirror. That night, Adam was poisoned. The only way to save him was to become an Angel again and make Lord Dimitri sacrifice his life. When the arrived at the castle in Purgatory, Dimitri knew what he had to do and gave up his life for Adam.Then, sadness was throughout the city and Steele told Inuyasha his past about being Alexander the Great's head general. Adam's heart was healed by Castiel. Chihiro was made into an older form. Petty love triangles then occurred (like Kail, Yuri, and Rolfe) and someone possessed Castiel, turning him evil and killing his own kind. Eventually, Adam saved him. During all of this, Cale is in Hell, trying to retrieve something and Steele saves him, also telling how he wants to become a Steel Angel again for Inuyasha and maybe even get his revenge on Michael (a key to his sad past).Seeing that no one was doing anything to help Dimitri, Kaleb (his younger brother and leader of the Covenant) showed up with Elimini (and they're connected, so whenever one is hurt, the other feels the same pain) and was very angry. Yuri then felt like she was being split in half. Turns out that when they were in Hattusa, Ishtar (creator of Demons) linked their souls together and now possesses her. Tobias (a repeated soul himself, Ramses, and also a past with Ishtar) became closer to Ariel, trying to make her feel sane without letting his love for her show so it wouldn't crush any of his progress. In order to save Yuri, Kail must find another body for Ishtar as well as kill Tobias.The Magic Mirror then returns right after The Covenant is chosen by Kaleb. His name is Skulni and is all-knowing in this world, yet is a con-man. He shows everyone that in Hell, Lord Dimitri is being tortured, burned, and hypnotized to being the Devil again.
